“Thanks,” you say, “but I am not sure that will work for me.” She is holding up a tiny dress that you doubt would fit your cat unless Fluffy sucks in her tabby tummy. Meow.
You either watch her try on her tiny sizes and claim you don’t need any new clothes right now or you just come clean and say your size is only sold way over there on the other side of the store. Or maybe in a completely different store.
The saleslady may try to be helpful. “How about a scarf?” she suggests. “We have some lovely new earrings, too. Here, try a sample of perfume.”
Universal Standard is changing that, and we can’t thank them enough. They’re an all-inclusive brand that goes from a 00 to a 38/40. In other words, everyone can shop together.
With ‘Fashion Freedom’ Universal Standard is Changing How We Shop for Plus-Size Fashion
Co-founders Alexandra Waldman and Polina Veksler began Universal Standard with a vision: a store where they could shop together with their differing body types.
They envisioned a world where a woman who was a size 40 could pal around with a friend who was a size 00 and shop in the exact same place.
They wanted, as they call it, “Fashion Freedom.”
And they have created just that.
Fit Liberty Protects Your Fashion Investment
They also wanted their company to incorporate a person’s potentially fluctuating size. In yet another milestone moment, they created Fit Liberty, which allows you to shop at the size you are right now and then exchange clothes if your size changes.
And for all items available in your particular size, take a look at this page. It’s a “shop now” feature that will show you every available item in your size. In addition, it will tell you which items are available in Fit Liberty.
Imagine! It’s like walking into a clothing boutique that is stocked with nothing but clothing in your size!
Brick and mortar stores are located in Chicago, Houston, New York, Portland and Seattle. But if you live elsewhere, the online store is always open. In addition, you can make an appointment with a virtual stylist.
